Proceedings against PZU Pomoc
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office initiated ex officio proceedings against PZU Pomoc (Assistance Service Company of PZU Insurance Company) responsible for the campaign "Holidays with PZU Safe Child".
The subject of the proceedings is PZU Pomoc’s service and its regulations regarding the collection of clients and potential clients’ consent to process their data for the marketing purposes of the companies that belong to the PZU Group. Granting this consent by a parent or legal guardian was a prerequisite for getting a free child insurance.
In addition, the proceedings also applies to informing persons whose data have been obtained for marketing purposes about the possibility of withdrawing their consent for data processing for a particular purpose.
Pursuant to the principle of transparency of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council ‘any information addressed to the public or to the data subject [is required to] be concise, easily accessible and easy to understand, and that clear and plain language and, additionally, where appropriate, visualisation be used’.
