16th Data Protection Day

The Personal Data Protection Office informs that on January 28, 2022, the Data Protection Day will be organized for the sixteenth time. The topic of this year's event is "Personal Data Protection on a Daily Basis". The event will be held on-line.

This year, during the conference, issues related to the practical dimension of application of the GDPR in two spheres close to many of us: in the work environment and in the education sector will be discussed. The invited experts will raise issues of interest to citizens, discussing the impact of data protection rules on shaping the employer-employee relationship.

The digital transformation and universal access to new technologies are also crucial.

As the need to educate children and young people on personal data protection and privacy has increased significantly, it is important for Personal Data Protection Office to make the public aware of the provisions on the protection of personal data and to raise awareness in this regard. Hence, the topic of building a common future based on the education of the youngest on the personal data protection principles .

During the 16th Data Protection Day, the ‘Michał Serzycki’ Data Protection Award will be granted. This special distinction is awarded to individuals and organizations recognised for promoting – both in Poland and abroad – the value of personal data protection and the right to privacy.

The thematic sessions as well as the Award ceremony will be broadcast via the Office's website (the link to the event will be available at a later date).

As every year, the celebration of the Data Protection Day will also joined by schools and educational institutions participating in the implementation of the nationwide educational program "Your data – Your concern". In the current, 12th edition of the program, many schools have planned numerous educational initiatives on personal data protection.

Below we also present a list of events accompanying the celebration of the 16th Data Protection Day, attended by the representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office:

  1. Online conference "Challenges and Standards for Data Protection Officers in 2022", which will be held on January 26, 2022. The President of the Personal Data Protection Office took the honorary patronage of this event.
  2. The Law related Conference: "Personal Data Protection – Challenges 2022", which will be held on January 26, 2022. The conference will be held under the patronage of the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
  3. Workshops for teachers within the framework of the "Your Data – Your Concern" program, which will be held on January 31, 2022.
  4. The 8th Personal Data Protection Open Day at the WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza, which will take place on February 7, 2022. The President of the Personal Data Protection Office took the honorary patronage of this event.
