The President of the Personal Data Protection Office appointed the Social Team of Experts

On 4 June 2024 in Warsaw, Mirosław Wróblewski appointed the Social Team of Experts, which will operate by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office. On the same day, the first meeting of the Team constituting a social consultative and advisory body of the President of the Personal Data Protection Office took place. The nomination ceremony took place during a conference organised by the Personal Data Protection Office entitled "Personal data protection in the EU. Where are we heading on the eve of the elections?"

The task of the newly appointed Team will be to support the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in the implementation of his tasks specified by law, in particular in the field of advice and expressing opinions on matters presented to the Team. It will also recommend initiating activities in the area of personal data protection and prepare, in consultation with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, expert opinions and positions in the field of personal data protection. The Team members will also promote good practices and perform other tasks, commissioned by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, regarding the protection of personal data, especially in the area of new technologies.

"This is an initiative that will be fully in line with the work carried out in the Office, which will take place simultaneously with the public consultations that we have started in the field of two guides – on employment and on notifying personal data breaches. A team of experts will support us in this work," said Mirosław Wróblewski, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The President of the Personal Data Protection Office noted that already during the inaugural meeting of the Team, talks on the most urgent topics were conducted.

"One of the most important topics discussed was the issue of the processing of personal data in connection with the upcoming entry into force of the Whistleblower ‘s Protection Act. The second is the growing cybersecurity threats, which are also related to the protection and processing of personal data. Today, we must also treat the protection of personal data as a security or even defense system of the country, which is why together with the Team we will work on proposals in this area, also regarding the analysis of risks that may be faced by controllers in individual industries," added Mirosław Wróblewski.

The Team of Experts to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office consists of outstanding experts in the subject of personal data protection, specialising in legal and legislative issues, as well as new technologies and science. Participation in the work of the team is of a social nature and its members are not entitled to remuneration on this account.
