Scientific conference on personal data protection in the light of selected legal acts

The President of the Personal Data Protection Office, together with the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, invite  to the Conference 'Personal Data Protection in the Light of the Artificial Intelligence Act and Other Acts Implementing the European Data Strategy'.

The meeting will take place on 27 June 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Faculty of Law and Administration of  the University of Warsaw in the A2 auditorium, Collegium Iuridicum II, 4 Lipowa Street.

The aim of the Conference is to discuss the challenges for data protection arising from legislation adopted under the European Data Strategy: AI Act, Data Governance Act, Data Act and others.

Individual panels will address: the protection of personal data in artificial intelligence systems in the light of the Artificial Intelligence Act and other new EU acts, the issue of competent authorities in the application of these regulations and cooperation between them, and the judicial review of the action of these authorities.

The event will be opened by Prof. Tomasz Giaro, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, and Mirosław Wróblewski, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The moderators of the individual panels will be  Arwid Mednis PhD from the University of Warsaw,  Paweł Litwiński PhD from the law firm “Bart Litwiński”,  Agnieszka Grzelak PhD, Deputy President of the Office for Personal Data Protection, Edyta Bielak-Jomaa PhD, former President of the  Personal Data Protection Office, representing the University of Łódź.

Other participants at the Conference include representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, the Office of Electronic Communications, the European Commission, Microsoft and universities: University College Dublin School of Law, WSB Merito University, the Kozminski University, the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Catholic University of Lublin, the University of Silesia and the University of Lodz.

During the event, prizes will be awarded in the 12th edition of the essay competition organised by the Personal Data Protection Office and the National Chamber of Legal Advisers.
