Meeting between the President of the Personal Data Protection Office and the FRA

On 10 September 2024, a meeting was held in Warsaw between Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office and Sirpa Rautio, Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), and Adrianna Bochenek, Head of the FRA Director’s Office.

Participants discussed data protection cooperation - how legislators and practitioners can be helped to protect human rights in the modern world. The speakers touched on themes related to the development of artificial intelligence, growing concerns about personal data security and privacy. They also reflected on how to jointly promote fundamental rights and their more effective protection within the EU.

The exchange of experience with the FRA Director is extremely valuable for us. The FRA's assessment of the challenges faced by supervisory authorities in the EU in relation to the application of GDPR and the Law Enforcment Directive adds new aspects to our state of knowledge.’ – emphasised during the meeting Miroslaw Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) is an EU body that advises EU institutions and national governments on fundamental rights issues. It helps to promote and protect human rights, including: the right not to be discriminated against on grounds of age, disability or ethnic origin; of the right to personal data protection; and access to justice. The Agency consults and cooperates with its partners, collecting and analysing information and data obtained through socio-legal research, providing assistance and expert advice and informing the public about fundamental rights.
