Data protection in the third sector
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski, together with the Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Konrad Komornicki andco-workers, met with representatives of NGOs.
On 27 August, a meeting was held between Personal Data Protection Office representatives and NGO representatives: Aleksander Pawłowski, Managing Director of the Alivia Oncology Foundation; Anna Stefańska, Member of the Board of PKN UNICEF; Katarzyna Fąfara-Ciach, Head of the WWF Legal Team; Maciej Bagiński, President of the Board of the Polish Humanitarian Action; and Draginia Nadazdin, CEO of Doctors Without Borders.
The meeting was devoted to various aspects of data protection in the activities of NGOs and possible forms of support for them in meeting their obligations in this regard. Participants emphasised the important role of personal data protection in building trust in third sector organisations, which is crucial for their effective operation.
During the meeting there was also discussion about the possibility of creating a sectoral code of conduct within the meaning of Article 40 GDPR and the conditions it would have to meet.
Appreciating the role played by NGOs, we are open to cooperation with representatives of this sector to enhance the level of personal data protection. We will support the initiatives taken by the third sector in this regard,’ concluded Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office at the meeting.
