
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office participated in the conference
The President of the Personal Data Protection Officeparticipated in the conference ‘Cybersec & Compliance in Health’.
On 4 March, the ‘Cybersec & Compliance in Health’ conference on cyber security and regulatory compliance in the healthcare sector was held at Lazarski University in Warsaw. The event was attended by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office Mirosław Wróblewski, together with employees of the Office.
The conference, organised by wZdrowiu and the Polish Federation of Hospitals, brought together experts from various fields and representatives of the medical industry, lawyers, IT specialists and state institutions. Discussions focused on the growing cyber threats in the health sector, as well as the challenges of implementing EU regulations such as the NIS2 Directive.
During his speech, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office noted: ‘I personally believe that the development of artificial intelligence in medicine is a powerful opportunity for revolutionary progress in many diagnostic techniques, clinical trials and these opportunities are enormous. However, at the same time, it should not be forgotten that the implementation of innovations and the introduction of artificial intelligence for the development of medicine, for the benefit of patients, must take place with respect for personal data and respect for privacy.’ The President also pointed out that ‘the protection of personal data in the health sector is not only a question of compliance with regulations, but above all a concern for the safety and trust of patients. At the Personal Data Protection Office, we are also working and trying to work over the coming years on more specialised guidance for the health sector’.
Among the speakers were two representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office:
- Roman Sobotka, PhD, from the Law and New Technologies Department, who gave a lecture on ‘Data protection principles in the implementation by the medical sector of EHDS and AI’.
- Krzysztof Król, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, who presented the topic ‘GDPR Industry Codes in the European Union’.
In speeches, Personal Data Protection Office’s experts highlighted key aspects of compliance, as well as practical ways to minimise the risk of patient data breaches.
