Conference "New Horizons of Biometrics – Security, Identity, Development"
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office, the AI One Health Foundation and the Social Team of Experts at the President of the Personal Data Protection Office invite you to the conference "New Horizons of Biometrics – Security, Identity, Development", which will take place on 26 November 2025 at the headquarters of the Personal Data Protection Office in a hybrid formula.
In recent years, biometric technologies have grown in importance, becoming a key component of various systems, including security systems. The popularity of biometrics is primarily influenced by the convenience of using this technology, which – based on the unique characteristics of a given person – seems safe because it is difficult to counterfeit. However, it is worth noting that the development of this technology is associated with risks that require analysis. In the event of a biometric data leakage, permanent loss of identity can occur, as biological characteristics are unchangeable.
The conference, organised by three institutions, aims to promote the responsible development of biometrics, exchange cross-sectoral knowledge in this field, and analyse legal and ethical challenges related to the use of the technology in question. It will also focus on presenting good practices and innovations for the safe use of biometrics, strengthening international cooperation in this area and shaping public awareness of the risks of biometrics and artificial intelligence.
The conference will be opened by Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office and Aneta Sieradzka, President of the AI One Health Foundation.
Next, the introductory lecture will be given by Tomasz Maciejewski, Ph.D, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health.
The program also includes three discussion panels. The first one will concern biometrics in medicine and its potential benefits and risks.
During the second panel, experts will discuss the topic of the digital identity wallet and its importance for the efficient functioning of the state.
The third panel will be devoted to the use of biometrics in the work environment and SmartCity, taking into account the limits of biometric monitoring and consumer rights in the era of biometrics.
Place: Personal Data Protection Office, 1A Stanisława Moniuszki Street, Warsaw.
