Conference "The same starting point – e-commerce and the Polish economy"
16.12.2025, Konrad Komornicki, Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, took part in the conference ‘The same starting point – e-commerce and the Polish economy’, organised by the Chamber of Electronic Economy in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.
The event was devoted to the influence of foreign - in particular Asian - e-commerce platforms on the Polish economy and the competitiveness of domestic entrepreneurs. During the conference, the KPMG report on the impact of Chinese e-commerce platforms on the Polish market was presented and the expert panels devoted to the equal legal framework and regulatory challenges in the area of e-commerce were held.
The Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office participated in the discussion panel entitled: "Equal legal and competitive framework in the e-commerce market", in which he referred, inter alia, to the issue of cooperation between personal data protection authorities and large e-commerce platforms operating in the European Union.
Responding to a question about the transposition of the Digital Services Act (DSA) into Polish law and the operating model of platforms that have their formal headquarters in the EU, Konrad Komornicki drew attention to the practical challenges associated with enforcing personal data protection regulations. He emphasised the importance of effective cross-border cooperation between Member State authorities and the role of EU mechanisms in ensuring the effective enforcement of GDPR obligations on global entities operating in the e-commerce market.
The conference was held in the form of an expert meeting, gathering representatives of public administration, business and industry organizations.
