Personal Data Protection Office experts on data protection in psychological and educational counselling centres

On 27 August 2026, an online training session was held for staff of public psychological and educational counselling centres (PPP), focusing on issues related to the protection of personal data. The training was delivered by experts from the Personal Data Protection Office.

Representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office discussed the principles governing the lawful processing and disclosure of personal data and presented the rights of data subjects. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, helping to clarify many of the concerns that arise in their day-to-day work.

Dr Roman Sobotka from the Personal Data Protection Office’s Law and New Technologies Department discussed personal data issues, drawing on examples from the case law of the CJEU and national courts. He also explained how to address personal data protection issues and where to find useful guidance and materials.

Maciej Tracz from the Complaints Department, Health, Employment and Education Sector Unit, discussed the most common shortcomings in the way data controllers implement data subjects’ rights. He also explained how these rights should be properly implemented.

Participants’ main areas of interest focused on the practical application of the GDPR in the day-to-day activities of psychological and educational counselling centres, with particular emphasis on the legal bases for, and principles governing, the disclosure of personal data, especially children’s and parents’ health data.

The meeting was organised as part of activities carried out under the Perspektywa 3P project, which focuses on providing comprehensive support to public psychological and educational counselling centres.
