Purpose of certification
The establishment of certification mechanisms and the introduction of data protection seals and marks are intended to allow:
1. data subjects to quickly assess the level of data protection to which relevant products and services are subject,
2. controllers and processors to demonstrate that they comply with the obligations imposed on them by the GDPR, in particular with regard to the implementation of appropriate technical and organisational measures, also in the case of transfers of personal data to third countries (certification is a voluntary instrument to ensure the implementation of the accountability principle by controllers and processors).

In addition, the President of the Office, when deciding whether to impose an administrative fine and determining its amount, will take into account the use of certification mechanisms.
