23rd Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities
The 23rd Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) will take place from June 11 to 13, 2025, in Kraków, Poland. This year’s event is hosted by the Polish Personal Data Protection Office.
The meeting will bring together commissioners and representatives of data protection authorities from CEEDPA member states, including both EU and non-EU countries. The discussions will center on emerging challenges in data protection, with a special emphasis on quantum technologies and their implications for cybersecurity and privacy.
International Conference: Quantum Technology: Threats, challenges, and opportunities for cybersecurity and data protection
On June 12, 2025, an open international conference will be held at the Larisch Palace in Kraków. The conference will explore key developments in quantum computing and quantum cryptography, as well as their impact on data protection policies and compliance with GDPR. Leading experts, academics, and policymakers will take part in insightful panel discussions covering technical approaches, policy strategies, and regulatory adaptations for the quantum era.
Speakers will include specialists from universities and research institutions across Europe, along with representatives from supervisory authorities. Participants will also discuss the importance of digital sovereignty and the role of quantum technology in shaping the future of global cybersecurity. The conference will conclude with a visit to Collegium Maius, showcasing Kraków’s rich academic heritage.
Closed Session of the CEEDPA Authorities
On June 13, 2025, a closed session will take place at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice. This private meeting will focus on adapting data protection regulations to better serve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Discussions will address necessary regulatory changes and strategies for balancing compliance requirements with the operational needs of SMEs.
In addition to the formal discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Penderecki Centre, known for its connection to one of Poland’s most celebrated composers. The meeting will conclude with a concert, offering participants a chance to appreciate Poland’s cultural contributions while strengthening cross-border collaboration.
